Still Light by Lorraine Seren Catterall
A North Wales artist with a lifelong love of drawing & a preference for painting in oils, Lorraine is fascinated with the effects of light on form. She is primarily a studio painter, more than happy spending many a solitary hour with her work. But when the weather permits, she also enjoys painting outdoors with fellow artist friends. Her work therefore crosses genres & includes landscapes, still life, people & animals.
Lorraine studied Fine Art with Bangor University from 2003 to 2006, an incredible experience for which she will always be grateful. A stint at another university was less positive & led her to pursue her art practice independently. Until recently this has been a mainly quiet, joyful & private pursuit. However, last year she decided to begin exhibiting & is now enjoying sharing her paintings with others.
Lorraine’s primary motive for painting is to attempt to capture the beauty of light & how it transforms everything it touches. When she paints, it reminds her to be grateful for the incredible world we live in. Her one wish in showing her work is that it would give the viewer a joyful moment of seeing the beauty of life, even in the mundane & everyday.
