The Little Orme has one of the largest Cormorant colonies in the UK. These amazing birds are a frequent sighting on the Bay of Colwyn coastline. Their feathers are not waterproof so they can often be seen drying off their impressive wings.
The idea for this installation came from a Coleg Llandrillo student concept. The plastic in the belly of the sculpture highlights the issue of plastic on wildlife. Sadly 100,000 marine mammals and turtles and 1 million sea birds are killed by marine plastic pollution annually. (UK Government, 2018)
