Winter Sounds IFANC!

Winter Sounds IFANC 2024

Winter Sounds Ifanc Young Promoters Network – offered a mentoring scheme for 3 young people to support them to plan and promote their own live music event as part of Beacons Cymru Young Promoters Network (YPN). The programme offered 3 sessions of upskilling from professionals within the music industry who taught the young recruits all the skills needed to put on their own gig from beginning to end, including managing a small budget. Additional 1:1 support was provided as needed.

The gigs were held in 3 different localities – that included an accessible gig in Old Colwyn with 78 attendees, a rural gig with 30 people and artists from Cardiff held in Glan Conwy, a free gig held in Colwyn Bay with 32 attendees. In addition to the hands on practical experience the young people achieved an Arts Award accreditation. Some quotes from the YPN’s:

Can I say a huge thank you to everyone involved. It’s been the best experience and because of this I’ve now got the confidence to do other gigs. I’ve set up my own production company – Belzorion Productions and I want to focus on new artists and supporting accessible gigs.
Night 6 Winter Sounds 106
It’s been really amazing and has helped me to develop links locally. I am now working with people I met as part of the process of putting on this event to develop another studio space to support local young people to get experience and I really hope that this will support my desire to build on a local scene.
Night 2 Winter Sounds 9
